Wichita, Kansas

Last week (October 20 - 24) we played my original hometown of Wichita, Kansas. I tried to show my co-workers some of the neater things in Wichita.

Those are pictures of the Keeper of the Plains. He stands where the Big Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers meet. The Keeper is now a symbol of Wichita. As a kid, I always thought he was neat. Now days the area has become a focal point with a bike path and pedestrian bridge.

Our hotel was across from Century II, that's what it looked like lit up at night. . .



There it is in daytime. The trees were beginning to change in Kansas too. . .

After we played Wichita, we went to Nebraska. We played Omaha and Lincoln. . . and it was COLD!! Thankfully, it's back south to Louisiana and Arkansas for the next two weeks.

Vicksburg, Mississippi

We spent two days (October 18 & 19) in Vicksburg. Since we stayed overnight, we had a working-slumber party at the building. The building also had this nifty loft upstairs that oversaw the stage area.

Ruby Falls Photos

Ruby Falls is an 145-foot high underground waterfall located within the caves of Lookout Mountain.

See Rock City!

Located on Lookout Mountain, Rock City features massive

ancient rock formations, gardens with over 400 native plants,

and the "See 7 States" views.

It wasn't a very clear day, so we actually couldn't see seven states.

But as Shioko stated, "You can't see the lines anyways."

Chattanooga, TN ~ Day one

My first day in Chattanooga, I rented a car and drove just a tad south into Alabama and went to the Unclaimed Baggage Center.

At the Unclaimed Baggage Center, they buy what else but unclaimed baggage. If you loose your luggage, the airline tries to get it back to you. After 90 days, they sell it to the Unclaimed Baggage Store. There they unpack it, and sell it off to you. . . the consumer.

I bought a bottle of Vera Wang's Princess perfume that normally retails for $75 for only $20. It was crazy to see some of the stuff that was for sale there. . . . I also bought a gorgeous pair of earrings that I'm sure someone is upset they lost.

Nashville. . . refuge from the storm

When we went to Nashville to escape hurricanne Ike, we went to see Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy. The first act of the show is Cars, and they are so cool!


Even though we were there for a few days and it is an amazing city, I had the flu so bad the only other thing I got to see was the Hard Rock Cafe.

For those of you that are worried and have left messages and e-mails. . . all of my shows this weekend have been canceled. We are evacuating from College Station, Texas and going to safer ground. We will be going to Nashville to take refuge with a fellow show. We will be visiting Disney on Ice: Worlds of Fantasy. (Known to us as D29.) We will return to our scheduled tour in West Virgina. Thanks for all your concern!

Route 66 ~~ New Mexico

We followed Route 66 out of Texas and into New Mexico. Another state off my list to visit! The first big city on Route 66 in New Mexico is called Tucumcari. There are many famous Route 66 sights such as the Tee Pee Curios.
Next big sight: The Blue Swallow Motel.
Next up: The Route 66 Monument

Maybe someday I'll drive all of Route 66. I think it sounds like fun.

Route 66 ~~ Adrian, Texas

Second day of Route 66 travel, we go to Adrian, Texas. Midpoint on Route 66. Adrian is thrilled about all signs with his name on it!
Although, Adrian, Texas, is a pretty sleepy little town.
Told you, Adrian is loving all the signs with his name on it!
We decide to stop at the Midpoint Cafe. Everyone there was super friendly and they even had many souvenirs for Adrian to buy.

Route 66 ~~ Big Texan Steak Ranch

The Big Texan Steak Ranch is a roadside icon along Route 66 or the new I-40, whichever you prefer.

If you can eat their 72 oz steak dinner in under an hour, then you get it for free. Otherwise, you get a whopping $72.00 bill.
They have a quirky decor, and this big rocking chair is lots of fun! Kevin and Sallie demonstrate!
